Christmas in San Luis Obispo, such a kick ass Christmas idea! I highly recommend this adventure for couples in California. There are wineries, romantic beaches, hot sulfer springs and soo sooo soooo much good food. My honey and I decided we needed to run away, so for Christmas this year we took a road trip to San Luis Obispo to reignite our puppy love spark. Now San Luis may have my heart from my many memories of college and meeting my bug, but as much as those memories are great... San Luis truly holds my heart for its food and its beaches!!! That is why this blog post is dedicated to attempts to recreate some of my favorite San Luis Obispo beach foods as well as use some of my favorite San Luis treats to create a yummy meal.
Our first stop was Firestones which serves the most amazing BBQ Tri-Tip sandwiches. I would love to tell you i have figured out the recipe and provide it below but i have attempted and still can not get my meat to melt in my mouth as good as Firestones can. Not to mention their BBQ sauce which rocks your socks off. But i have however come up with my very own pulled Chicken recipe as a replica of our second dinner stop Moe's. Moe's pulled chicken is so tender and scrumptiously covered in a sweet BBQ sauce then topped with coleslaw. It is literally a party in my mouth. The milking colslaw mixed with the tart BBQ sauce is amazing!!
Nicole's attempt to recreate Moe's Shredded Chicken Sandwiches
3 chicken breasts or tri-tip
1 beef onion soup package
¾ bottle of BBQ Sauce
½ diced yellow onion
½ cup water
1 box of mushrooms (sliced optional)
1/4 diced green bell pepper
1/4 diced red bell pepper
Mix all ingredients together in crock pot and set on low for 8 hours.
